Description
Photograph of a view of the completed Sunset Boulevard-Silverlake Boulevard grade separation, March 20, 1932. A wide paved street is in the foreground at right and disappears under a bridge in the distance at center. Another paved street intersects the first and runs from left to right. An electric railway car is crossing the bridge in the distance, and several small building can be seen at left. A line of utility poles runs across the image from right to left. An early-model automobile can be seen parked at left. Compares to USC-0-1-1-324 dated September 5, 1931.

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
