Description
Photograph of a view of the Los Angeles and Independence Railroad depot at San Pedro Street and Fourth Street, ca.1887. A Victorian-style building with clapboard siding decking either of its two towers can be seen at center, edging the side of a waiting locomotive engine. Expectant passengers can be seen in-between, while a man that appears to be the conductor is visible to the right. The line, which extended to Santa Monica, was taken over by Southern Pacific, and the station was destroyed by fire in November of 1988.
