Several tall, rectangular buildings can be seen in the foreground, while the tapered spire of City Hall is visible in the background at left. An American flag flies from the roof of the Western Pacific building in the foreground at center. Legible signs include, from left: "Western Costume Bldg", "Western Costume Company the largest costume and theatrical supply house in the world", "New Orpheum America's finest theatre", "L. L. Burns Building", "Radio Supply Co.", and "Acme White Lead and Color Works".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
