Union station, a train station constructed in the Spanish revival style of architecture, sits in the centerground. The building's clocktower is visible at left. A paved sidewalk lined with streetlights sits in front of it, with the top of a staircase descending from the sidewalk at right. The foreground is filled by a paved street. City Hall is visible in the background at center, while other Civic Center buildings can be seen to its right.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
