The Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce Building can be seen at extreme left, ehile several more tall buildings can be seen in the background at center. The tall tower of City Hall is visible in the distance at right. In the foreground, dark-roofed houses can be seen, while a wide paved road runs from the foreground to the background at center. A line of moutains runs across the image in the background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
