Description
Photograph of a view of the corner of Main Street and Fifth Street on the site of what would become the Rosslyn Hotel, Los Angeles, ca.1903. A man and a woman stand on the sidewalk left of center with two children, in front of Platt's Popcorn Palace popcorn stand, where two more men stand, one in an apron, the other in a suit. A brick highrise is visible behind them, displaying signs that read "The Hub [...] North Spring Street", and "Pra[...] Real Estate [...]". The old post office building is visible with its towered corners in the right background. Streetcar rails are visible in the street in front, which appears unpaved.
