Photograph of a view of Los Angeles from 1024 Santee Street, June 1929. The Texaco building can be seen in the background at left and is a tall building with a rectangular tower on the roof. The buildngs in the foreground all have three or four stories and flat roofs. Taller buildings can be seen in the background at left. In the foreground at right, a paved road is lined with early-model automobiles. A water tower can be seen on the roof of a building in the foreground at center.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
