Description
Photograph of an external view of the Worth residence on the corner of Forty-Eighth Street and Main Street in Los Angeles, [s.d.]. The two-story home is at center and has light-colored stucco walls. A large porch covered by a wide balcony can be seen on the front of the house at left. A cylindrical tower is at center, while a rectangular tower can be seen at right. The roof is covered with dark wooden shingles. Several bushes and trees can be seen in the front yard, including a small palm tree in the foreground at left. Another two-story home can be seen in the background at right.

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
