Description
Photograph of a pen and ink drawing (lithograph) of the residence of I.W. Hellman, southwest corner of Main Street and Fourth Street, Los Angeles, 1885. Later the site of Farmers & Merchants Bank, later the site of the Security Pacific National Bank. In the dirt street are a horse-drawn trolley filled with passengers and a 2-horse drawn carriage carrying 4 passengers. A wall topped by an iron fence surrounds the 2-story Victorian mansion on the porch near the entryway of which two people are standing. The well-groomed grassy lawn is dotted with trees and bushes. A widow's walk is visible on the roof. Three pedestrians are walking on the sidewalk adjacent to the property.
