Photograph of passengers arriving at a train station wearing winter clothing, December, 1927. In the foreground a woman dabs her nose while walking down the platform in a dress, overcoat and hat. A man behind her wears a long trench coat, suit and hat as he carries his luggage. A man is approaching him from the left in a dark suit and light hat offering to take his luggage. More warmly-dressed people fill the platform behind them.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
