Description
Photograph of an exterior view of a duplex residence at 830-832 South Sycamore Avenue, 1939. The two-story building can be seen at center with a sloped, tiled roof. A few stairs lead to the front door, while potted plants can be seen on the balcony at right. An arch can be seen at left, while bushes and trees can be seen in the front grass lawn. An automobile can be seen parked on the side of the road at left, while part of a second building can be seen at left. Earlier photo shows home in 1927: USC-0-1-1-1648.

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
