Assignment: U.S. Army Award. 40/41: L to R. Robert C. Geffs, President of the Association of the U.S. Army. Dr. William H. Pickering, Director Cal Tech Jet Propulsion Lab.; Mayor Norris Poulson".; Supplementary material reads: "18 February, 1958; City of Los Angeles; Mayor's Office; For further information call Charles A. Cooney - MI 5211, Ext. 3304; Room 101, City Hall. Acting on the request of the Association of the U. S. Army, Mayor Poulson will present its award to Dr. William H. Pickering, Director of the Cal Tech Jet Propulsion Lab, in recognition of his accomplishment as designer of the "Explorer" tomorrow (Thursday) at 10 a.m. Robert C. Geffs, president of the Association's Greater Los Angeles Chapter, also will be at hand".
