Description
1 image. Arrival after 50 years, September 17 1952. Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Weaver. (Sent-in).; Supplementary material reads: "News Bureau. United Air Lines. Bill O'Hern. Madison 6-8060. Illustrated. 'My, how things have changed!' Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Weaver, of Esbon, Kan., who arrived in Los Angeles today via United Air Lines for their first visit here since 1902 -- 50 years ago -- were all agog about Los Angeles. Mr. Weaver, 81, (his wife is 75) recalled that they had seen the sights of Los Angeles, including the orange groves and the quiet little beach cities, from the seat of a horse and buggy on their last trip here. 'We're here this time as a kind of celebration of our 55th anniversary -- we were married on Sept. 2, 1897 -- and to visit our daughter in Vista,' said Mrs. Weaver. The daughter, Mrs. Clyde E. Davis of 247 Indian Rock Road, Vista, and her husband met the Weavers on their arrival. Taking the first plane ride of their lives from Denver, where they boarded the airliner after an auto drive from Esbon, to Los Angeles, the Weavers were anxious to renew their memories of the slightly sleepy community they had seen 50 years ago. They'll be in Southern California three weeks before returning to their Kansas home. 'Everything's grown up so,' said Mr. Weaver. 'Yes, but it looks like fun,' said his wife".
