1 image. Mexican delegation to Tournament of Roses arrives in Los Angeles, 29 December 1951. Doctor Francisco Del Rio Canedo, Director General of Mexico's Tourist Bureau in Mexico City; Carlos Del Rio, his son; Miguel Gallagher, of Mexican Government Tourist Bureau in Los Angeles.; Supplementary material reads: Pan American World Airways System. News Bureau. Hank McCance. Dr. Francisco Del Rio Canedo, director general of the Mexican Government Tourist Bureau, Mexico City, accompanied by his son, Carlos del Rio, was met by Miguel Gallagher, Mexican Government Tourist Bureau, Los Angeles, on arrival by Compania Mexicana de Aviacion -- Pan American World Airways affiliate, this evening (Friday, December 28). Leading the Mexico Official Tournament of Roses party, Dr. Francisco Del Rio will remain in Los Angeles through the New Year's day event and can be contacted at the Green Hotel in Pasadena. This will be the third participation for Mexico in the Tournament of Roses parade. The preceding years were 1947 and 1951. Description
The Los Angeles Examiner Photographs Collection consists of approximately 1.4 million prints and negatives from the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper. It was a daily newspaper, published in the afternoon on weekdays (Herald-Express) and in the morning on weekends (Examiner). The afternoon and morning papers merged in 1962 (Herald Examiner).

Almost every event and individual receiving news coverage in Los Angeles during the period late 1920's to 1961 is represented in the collection. Coverage is broad including crime, sports, society, art, and entertainment. The collection forms part of the Hearst Collection and was a gift from the Los Angeles Herald Examiner Division of the Hearst Corporation in 1978.
The Los Angeles Examiner Negatives Collection (1950-1961) consists of approximately 215,000 4x5-inch negatives from the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper.
The Los Angeles Examiner Prints Collection consists of approximately 1.2 million photoprints from the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper.
