(Top photo) Anita Ornelas and Brenda Weathers sitting at a garden table outside Brenda's apartment on Brahan Boulevard in San Antonio. (misnamed as Claremont in the album) Anita Ornelas was a WAC at Fort Sam Houston. She and Brenda Weathers were lovers. February 21, 1961. (Bottom photo) Carolyn Weathers sitting at garden table outside her sister Brenda Weathers' apartment on Brahan Blvd. Carolyn had just moved to San Antonio from Lubbock the day before, the day after her 21st birthday on February 19. She is to share the rent as soon as she gets a job. Anita will live with them every moment she not on duty. Carolyn left Lubbock during a heavy Panhandle snowstorm. By the time she got to San Antonio late that afternnon, the weather was warm and balmy. The yard had exotic banana trees instead of tumbleweeds. Carolyn is having beer for breakfast. Anita has told her that will beer and menudo cures hangovers. The apartment cost $200.00 a month, an enormous amount for the time and place, and Brenda, Anita and Carolyn soon moved to a cheap dump down the street. February 21, 1961.
