(Sleeve reads: SP 12289).; Supplementary material reads: "From: Judd Bernard Public Relations; 449 South Beverly Drive; Beverly Hills, California; Crestview 5 4403. Where, Mr. O'Malley, are you going to set this? Top Academy Award contender Red Buttons, accompanied by his wife Helayne, arrives in Hollywood (Monday, the 13th) for a new movie role and carries with him an eloguent [sic] plea from all baseball fans to get the Dodgers set. Red will present the home plate he's carrying to Dodgers President Walter O'Malley. Red returned from New York where he was named "Celebrity of the Year" by the Friars Club in New York. 1957 was a great comeback year for Buttons whose portrayal in "Sayonara" is being applauded as a leading bet for an Academy Award nomination. Buttons starts work next week in a starring role in 'Imitation General' at MGM".

Description The Los Angeles Examiner Photographs Collection consists of approximately 1.4 million prints and negatives from the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper. It was a daily newspaper, published in the afternoon on weekdays (Herald-Express) and in the morning on weekends (Examiner). The afternoon and morning papers merged in 1962 (Herald Examiner).

Coverage is broad including crime, sports, society, art, and entertainment. The collection forms part of the Hearst Collection and was a gift from the Los Angeles Herald Examiner Division of the Hearst Corporation in 1978.

The Los Angeles Examiner Negatives Collection (1950-1961) consists of approximately 215,000 4x5-inch negatives from the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper.

The Los Angeles Examiner Prints Collection consists of approximately 1.2 million photoprints from the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper.
