Heavily retouched photograph. "Floor plan for 1960 Democratic Convention -- Here is architect Welton Becket's rendering of how floor plan for the 1960 National Democratic Convention will appear when it's called to order July 11 in Los Angeles' Memorial Sports Arena. At left center (the arena's west side) can be seen the rostrum and dias. On each side of the rostrum will be the press galleries. In the center, located in the aisleways, are stepped platforms for press photographers. The main floor will seat all delegates. Spectators and alternate delegates will sit in the upper levels of the air conditioned, oval shaped building. As shown here the $6 million structure will seat more than 16,000. The Arena was designed and engineered by Welton Becket and Associates. (Note: see enclosed architectural floor plan for complete convention details.)" -- typed note attached to verso.; Streetscape.
