Photograph of a model with caption " Proposed Los Angeles Civic Center plan, April 1, 1947; Scale 1"=100' ".  Streets and buildings are labeled on the photograph. "Proposed project -- plans for a new and larger Los Angeles Civic Center unveiled yesterday called for: 1. New Police Administration Building, with Traffic Courts and Coroner. 2. New City Receiving Hospital. 3. New Country Health and Charities Building. 5. New State Office Building and State Engineering Building. 6. New Water and Power Department Buildings. 7. Hollywood Parkway, which goes through Civic Center in an open, subsurface channel. 8. New Federal Buildings. 9. Present City Hall. 10. Present Federal Building. 11.  New Commercial Center. 12. Ornamental reflector pool. 13. Hall of Justice, with a new annex for County Utilities and Power Departments. 14. New Superior and Municipal Courts Buildings. 15. New Country Engineering Building and Country Administration Building. 16. New County Library and Education Building and new County Finance Building. 17. Fort Moore Hill Park and future War Memorial site. 18. Existing Board of Education Building. 19. Description The Los Angeles Examiner Photographs Collection consists of approximately 1.4 million prints and negatives from the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper. It was a daily newspaper, published in the afternoon on weekdays (Herald-Express) and in the morning on weekends (Examiner). The afternoon and morning papers merged in 1962 (Herald Examiner).

Almost every event and individual receiving news coverage in Los Angeles during the period late 1920's to 1961 is represented in the collection. Coverage is broad including crime, sports, society, art, and entertainment. The collection forms part of the Hearst Collection and was a gift from the Los Angeles Herald Examiner Division of the Hearst Corporation in 1978.

The Los Angeles Examiner Negatives Collection (1950-1961) consists of approximately 215,000 4x5-inch negatives from the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper.

The Los Angeles Examiner Prints Collection consists of approximately 1.2 million photoprints from the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper.
