WORKSHOPS |
_ ON-GOING GROUPS |
RELATIONSHIP IMPROVEMENT
For women in committed relationships who wish
to stay together and build an even stronger relation-
ship. Limited to 6 couples each session. Couples
will bring experiences from their own relationships,
and will then work with the therapist on issues that
emerge.

Pre-registration and intake interview required.
Facilitator: Sharon Siegel, Ph.D. and MFCC, is a
psycho therapist in private practice. Dr. Siegel, a
nationally known lecturer and workshop
facilitator, is bilingual in Spanish/English and has
volunteered her time to GLCSC as a counselor and
workshop facilitator for several years.
HOW TO DO YOUR OWN PUBLIC
RELATIONS AND ADVERTISING
Seminar aimed at small business and profes-
sional women. Overview of how and where to
advertise, create free publicity, build your practice
or business, write advertisments, flyers, brochures
and develop publicity packets.
Pre-registration required.

Facilitator: Laurie Shane is owner of The Com-
munication Works, a public relations and advertis
ing consulting firm. She works primarily with les
bians and gays in small businesses, with the focus of
her work the empowerment of others who are doing
positive things in their professions.
*SOCIAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT FOR
LESBIANS
Eight week workshop designed to provide prac
tical approach to the discomfort associated with
social situations. Will explore such issues as self-
image and self-expression, sexuality and dating, bar
etiquette, and road blocks to intimacy. Demonstra-
tion of effective communication techniques and
PAST LIVES
Past life memories stored in the body may cause
stress, unexplained behavior and _ physical
disorders. Looking through windows of the past
often reveals new ways of thinking about the pre-
sent. Relaxation, meditation and regressions will be
utilized, with a discussion period following each
regression.
DONOR INSEMINATION
Lesbians considering becoming parents can
learn the simple, self technique of insemination.
Discussion also of access to sperm bank and
donors, and methods of fertility detection.

Women’s Health Center. FWHC is a woman con
trolled commmunity clinic dedicated to providing
health care and information in a participatory
setting.
LESBIAN PERSPECTIVES ON AIDS
Acquired. Immune Deficiency Syndrome
(AIDS) presents a serious health crisis within our
larger community. Information will be provided on
the medical aspects, as well as a_ discussion
of psychological, sociological and_ political
ramifications.

Facilitators: Medical staff from the GLCSC STD
Clinic, health workers from The Feminist Women’s
Health Center, and Lesbian Central Staff and ad-
visors. A joint panel presentation on various
aspects of the problem.
LESBIAN SEXUALITY
Slide show and discussion of lesbian sexuality.
Through the women’s health movement we have
made exciting new discoveries about our sexual
response, including a feminist re-definition of the
clitoris. By knowing our own bodies we are able to
enjoy a fuller sexuality.

SELF-HELP LESBIAN HEALTH CARE
Lesbian health concerns are often not addressed
in the traditional gynecologists office. Share infor-
mation and discuss common health concerns of les
bians, including vaginal infections, v.d., herpes and
warts. Learn self-examination of breast and cervix
with plastic speculum.

Psychology, is a registered Psychology Assistant at
the Westside Center for Growth and Counseling.
Involved in a Ph.D. program in Clinical
Psychology, she has trained in Jungian and
Transpersonal Psychotherapies and has taught and
facilitated numerous classes and workshops in
Healing and Transpersonal Psychology.

*WOMEN EMERGING TOGETHER:
A SUPPORT GROUP FOR BATTERED
LESBIANS
You are not alone. If you are presently in or
have left an abusive relationship this group will pro-
vide a safe space to explore and share your feelings
with other lesbians. Together we will develop this
group as we grow and emerge as new, strong, self-
responsible women. Complete confidentiality.

Facilitator: Sharon Sumpter, MA, MFCC, is a
peace activist/therapist commited to improving the
quality of women’s lives. She is part of the network
on battering lesbians in southern and northern
California and a member of the Southern Califor-
nia Coalition on Battered Women Committee
Against Homophobia and Racism and has been a
staff member of Sojourn, a shelter for battered
women and their children.

ALL BACK HOME
A one day workshop for lesbians exploring
myths, memories, fears, freakouts, separation and
self-definition in our relationships with our
mothers.

Facilitators: Maggie Magee, L.C.S.W., has a
private psychotherapy practice working with
adults, children and families. Lynn Warshafsky,
M.A., is in private practice in Santa Monica and is
especially interested in the creative process as a tool
for balancing. Both volunteer in the GLCSC
Counseling Department.
SPIRITUAL HEALING WORKSHOP
We are taught that only others can heal us and
therefore overlook the powers we have to heal
ourselves. Through techniques aimed at demystify
ing the body visualization, meditation, inner
and outer balancing, participants will learn to in
crease their own energy flow and how to deal with
both the outside world and the inner world through
balance.

tioner involved in women’s health care through her
s a Zen Buddhist and a
meditator who continues to seek and expand her
private practice. She

classes for women.

GLCSC’s Education and Consciousness Program
LESBIAN VICTIMS OF BATTERING:
THE EXCHANGE OF POWER FOR LOVE
A training seminar specifically aimed at lesbians
working in the service and health related profes
sions. Emphasis on understanding early en-
vironmental and family influences that contribute
to present behavior: rage that comes from feeling
shame enduring the bad fear of
loss...punishment through suffering. ..and other
aspects of the phenomena will be discussed. Net
working opportunities and resource lists will be
provided after the workshop.

Psychologist and a Ph.D. Candidate at the Wright
Institute. The author of numerous articles dealing
with violence, film and feminism, Ms. Wagner

Workshop for both readers and writers of les-
bian literature. Participants will read materials
provided at the session, as well as participate in

Alice Bloch is the author of the highly acclaimed
Lifetime Guarantee and a novel soon to be publish-
ed, The Law of Return. Her poetry and fiction have
been widely published in journals and publications.
Ms. Bloch has facilitated numerous workshops, in
cluding two journal writing seminars at GLCSC.
