Description
Text continues: "Of delay and deception = over 58,000 reported AIDS cases; Stop the dying!!! Join ACT UP/LA in 10 days of protest and education April 29 through May 9." Black text on white paper. The upper left quadrant of the poster contains a black and white photograph of three statue figures; there is text collaged over them reading "1 AIDS death every 1/2 hour." Friday, April29_ AIDS AND HOMOPHOBIA
Homophobes on parade, guerilla theater at the state
Republican Party Headquarters. 4-6 pm, 1903 W. Magnolia,
Burbank.
Saturday, April30 PEOPLE WITH AIDS: CARING
AND UNCARING
6 pm picket followed by overnight sit-in/vigil at County General
Hospital to demand expulsion of anti-Gay ministries from the
hospital and creation of an AIDS unit. 6 pm, 1200 State St.
Sunday, May1 AIDS AND PEOPLE OF COLOR
An AIDS information fair and a forum on AIDS and minority
communities. 2:30-6 pm (speakers at 4 pm), Exposition Park
Recreation Center, 3990 Menlo St.
Monday, May2 AIDS ON CAMPUS
A demonstration at the office of State Assemblyperson
Miriam LaFollette, who is leading an effort to end counseling
for gay and lesbian high school students in L.A. 3 pm, 11145
Tampa Ave, Northridge
Tuesday, May3 AIDS BEHIND BARS
AIDS, A Bad Way To Die, a video by prisoners about prisoners
with AIDS at Sing-sing, will be shown and a speaker from the
ACLU will address AIDS in California prisons. 7:30 pm, Long
Hall in Plummer Park.
Wednesday, May4 WOMEN ANDTHE AIDS CRISIS
A forum entitled “Out of Denial and Into Empowerment” will
explore how AIDS is used to discriminate against women and
will discuss the issues specific to women of color, lesbians,
current and former prostitutes, and women who have used IV
drugs. 7:30 pm, Williams Hall at Barlow Hospital, 2000
Stadium Way, Elysian Park.
Thursday, May5 AIDS: A WORLD WIDE CRISIS
ACT UPILA will join ACT UP/San Diego and Tijuana activists
for a demonstration at the U.S./Mexico border. Call
213-668-2357 for more information.
Friday, May6 AIDS: TESTING AND TREATMENT
Protest against the Food and Drug Administration’s denial of
treatment to people with AIDS. 12 noon, Federal Building,
corner of Wilshire Blvd. and Veteran Blvd., Westwood.
Saturday, May 7 NATIONAL DAY OF AIDS PROTESTS
Join the ACT UP/LA contingent at the March on Sacramento.
Monday, May9 AIDS AND THE GOVERNOR
Civil Disobedience at Governor Deukmejian’s office organized
by the California Direct Action Network. Call ACT UP/LA at
(213) 668-2357 for more information.

ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives is the oldest active Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning (LGBTQ) organization in the United States and the largest repository of LGBTQ materials in the world. Founded in 1952, ONE Archives currently houses over two million archival items including periodicals, books, film, video and audio recordings, photographs, artworks, organizational records and personal papers.
