Land Designations and Background: ESRI, ArcGIS - Basemap USA - 2008
Proposed Wilderness Boundary: CA Desert Protection Act 2010 - 2010
Solar Application Data: BLR2000 (BLM online database) - 2010
Utility Data: HTSI, Inc. - 2010
The technology sampled in this model calls for 2,000 contiguous acres,
annual DNI values higher than 7,000, and cumulative surface slopes less
than 4 percent grade. Areas near T-lines, pipelines, and substations were
considered highly desirable. Lands with prior designations (including
proposed wilderness) were not considered for prospect site locations. Due
to potential tower height, areas within 5 miles of airports were excluded
from consideration. Only the sites meeting optimal requirements within
BLM public lands have been displayed for application filing purposes.
