Photograph of a view of Santa Monica from the Palisades, looking south towards the pier, 1910-1920. A line of narrow cliffs is in the foreground, and a dirt path runs between the small cliffs and larger ones at right. The ocean is visible over the tops of the small cliffs, and the pier juts into the water in the background. Several structures, including a roller coaster, can be seen on the pier, and many more line the beach nearby. A group of four palm trees stands atop the cliff at right.

Title California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960

Description The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
