Description
Photograph of a view of Broadway between Tenth Street (Olympic Boulevard) and Eleventh Street showing a Los Angeles Investment Company construction project, ca.1926. Broadway heads away from the viewer at center. There are two sets of streetcar tracks down the middle of the paved road, and two streetcars are visible in the background. There are many early-model automobiles parked along the side of the road. The single-story, wooden Los Angeles Investment project is in the foreground at right and there is a pile of lumber in front of it. The street is decorated with hanging flags and banners. Photo is also identified as "the excavation of Western Pacific Building, ca 1926".; Legible signs include, from left to right, "Being built by Los Angeles Investment Co. Inc. Builders of Good Homes Payable like Rent", "Oakland Six", "Western Costume Company", "The largest costume and theatrical supply house in the world", "The Western Sportswear Shop Mezzanine Floor", "L. L. Burns B[...]", "Drink Coca Cola", and "Payable like rent".
