Photograph of an exterior view of the Ambassador Hotel from a golf course, ca.1920-1929. The large hotel can be seen in the background. It is five stories high and has two distinct wings. A tower can be seen on the roof of the building at right. In the foreground, a small golf course is visible. Several people can be seen walking around the golf course at center. An ivy-covered out building can be seen in the foreground at right.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
