Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Shoreham Hotel, 666 Carondelet Street, [s.d.]. The tall hotel stands at center with a small staircase leading to its arched entrance on the right. Plants climb up the walls of the first floor while bushes and small trees decorate the entrance as well as the manicured yard in the foreground. The hotel houses eighty rooms. "Rates on the American Plan: one person w/o bath is $3-3.50; w/ bath is 3.50 to 4.50; two person w/o bath is $4-5.00; w/bath $5-7.00"

Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
