Description
Photograph of Morris Nagel Versatogs and Adele California buildings, ca.1948. In the foreground, a wide street can be seen extending from left to right. On the opposite side of the street, a line of automobiles can be seen parked along the curb. A tall lamppost stands nearby. Adjacent to the street, two large, connected buildings are visible. A row of small windows runs along the upper floor of both buildings, and the exterior is nearly identical between the two. The sign on the building at left reads: "Adele California". The sign outside the building at right reads: "Morris Nagel Versatogs". Both stores are clothing manufacturers. Several utility lines run above the storefronts. As of December 2014, both buildings are still extant.

Title
Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
