Description

Photograph of an exterior view of the Precision(?) Radiation Instruments building, [s.d.]. The one-story building with a flat roof can be seen at center. The entrance can be seen at center, while four square-shaped windows can be seen on both sides of the entrance. Plants and what appear to be small pine trees grow in planters underneath the windows. A larger tree can be seen to the left of the entrance. A sidewalk runs in front of the building and continues into the background at left. A street lamp with a sign reading, "Jefferson(?) Blvd." can be seen at left. A paved road is visible in the foreground. A sign reading, "[...]cision Radiation Instruments" is visible over the entrance. The "Pre" is not seen but is an educated guess.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
