Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Hufford Machine Works, [s.d.]. At center, a large, warehouse-style building is pictured, comprised of two parts. The foremost part is pictured at left, has many windows, and appears to be the office portion of the facility. Behind, a taller building has large windows towards the top which lean out, and bears the name of the building. In the foreground left, planks of wood extend over rough earth to a flattened road farther in.

Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
