Description
Photograph of a procession of cars on Glendale Boulevard west of the Sunset Boulevard Bridge, Los Angeles, ca.May 14, 1904. A line of six early-model automobiles can be seen from behind driving along the unpaved road, in which railcar tracks can be seen. To the right, a crowd of children stand to the side of a one-story house. To the left, two adult men can be seen from behind. Another man looks toward them further in the distance at left. Further behind him is a horse and carriage standing by the roadside, perpendicular to the cars. Homes can be seen in the hillside in the background.

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
