“2.
He was a real champion in running to the T,S,every day which
was a source of light in his daily spiritual life. In spite of his love
to the 7.S., he was ready to run there, where work and help were needed Al-
though this latter was not obligatory, but to him help whatever the kind
it might be, was sacred .
When he was appointed as a preacher in a small village, he
was very happy that he will be with his Lord. after making the trip to that
place, without further formalities he went up to the pulpit and started
his usualSgermon, this kind of unexpected speaches did never upset his mood
Decause, he knew that Jesus will, him through where ever he goes. There in
that village he was very mich/loved and in hie turn he loved then,
Being very busy with new work, he lost no time to study the
Gospel and to explore the peoples! inner and outer sights with virtue and
meekness and became their true and sincere friend. This,I testify with a
contented heart and with utmost pleasure. However small his new position
was, in that village, I knew, and was sure that he was going to have much
higher and more responsible positiond in the near future. My prophesy did
not fail me ... 3
His coming to Aleppo City, specially in a time of "deportation"
of our Armenian nation, made him to remove the vail from his simple per-
sonality and made him more useful and practical. Thxéy, in those dark,ané-
gloomy and unforgetable days, he showed in his daily life and duty to’ every
body how glorious and wonderful Character the Lord Jesus Christ was.
In those painful and grievous days,-as if-—he was sent by
God's providence to dress the wounded hearts and assist the needy refugees;
old, young, widows, orphans and many others regardless of their creeds or,
any other differences, alike, No matter what he did, he did it joyfully
aba with a contented heart, so that, every body beleived that there was a
‘Saint! among them and did not exaggerate by him as "SainfHovhannes'
There is no need to narrate one by one all that he did in the past days,
because a great number of widows and orphans in their sorrow and tearful,
eyes are ready to testify all that I am saying.
I can sumerize all these good deeds and virtues in a few points.
1.+ His christian life and virtues, he had learned through contimious and
and personal hardship and not justaa plain and dry unrooted learnings
in the school. Noe
2e- In order to keep up-to-date, and acquire more, he was in continuous con-
tact with the Holy Ghost and was very faithful to Him .
3e- This relationship with God, was so warm, so deep and strong, that, eve
in time of deportation, which was exceptionally difficult and afflic-
ting, ata not-change-@ bit in his belief.
4.- In ail respect and in most of his works, his wife was a second to him
to carry on the heavy t'yoke', Her thoughts and love to help the poor
and needy/was very harmoniuos to that of the deceased. (Pardon me men-
tioning this fact;)such as, the trasnlation of the "Twice Born Men"s
Although 1t carries the name of Rev. H. Eskijian's, and all the praise
goos to him, yet Mrs. G.H. Esk jian had her @istinct and equal share
in it too.
Your part, Dear Mrs. Eskijian will never be forgotten at all,
however,no need to go ito the details.
