THE REV. HOVHANNES ESKIJIAN — Latroduchion
Aman of modest origins in Suis: (caessa) in Cilicia.
A hunble pastor in two adjoining villages in the district
of Antioch, and later in Aleppo,
A saintly person devoted to the spiritual life of his people
in prayer meetings and worship services.
Suddenly this humble servant of God is transformed into a
lion, fearless and courageous, in the hands of God, fighting against
all odds for the deliverance of hundreds, perhaps thousands of
Amenian men, women and children from the hands of zaptiehas and
spies, taking them home, feeding them, clothing and hiding them in
many hiding places and in his own orphanage, during the most hor-
rendous times of the Armenian Genocide, during 1915 - 16, until his
death of typhus fever.
Rev, Hovhannes Eskijian.
We shall have a glance of this pioneer - hero, in three different
periods of his life:
Childhood years and youth,
As a pastor,
As a courageous national hero in Aleppo during the
Genocide years.
