Dear Luther:
Last week I wrote you a letter expressing my apprecia-
tion for your drawing of Echmiadzin. Since February,
I have as my house guest, a cousin of mine, Mrs. Noemi
Ouzounian, the only relative that exists from my father's
side, the rest of them having been killed at Der Zor.
When I showed her your drawing, with great. emotion, she
told me that the only reason why she is alive, was
because of your father. When she, her two sisters,
her mother and grandmother arrived in Aleppo, she escap=
ed from the refugee camp, got in touch with your father
and through him, was able to keep the whole family in
Aleppo, during the entire duration of the first World
War.
Evidently at that time you and your brother were little
tots. She says that if there ever was a saint and
martyr, it was your father, who saved the lives of hun-
dreds of refugees, and through overwork, got sick and
died.
Evidently your mother and hers, were great friends and
after your father's death, her mother spent many days
in your home, taking care of you children and trying
to be a comfort to your mother.
uNMFortunately, they all returned to Hadjin intact. My
cousin left for Constanticople to continue her educa-
tion. In the meantime, as you know, Hadjin was be-
seeched and she lost all her dear ones over there.
In 1934 she came to California to visit my mother and
evidently at that time your mother was still alive and
