Transcript (If available)
Content He had a special passport to enter these death
stations and give help to the Armenians, which permit
he utilized to the fullest. Giving up sleep, he
listened for the sounds of the trains and headed to the
stations. He went through the wagons and picked up the
children, young girls and young men and brought them
into town.

From a testimony of Rahel Megerdichian: Rev.
Eskijian would also go to Karlik at night, picking up
Armenian orphans, bringing them to his home under his
coat. Mrs. Eskijian washed, clothed and fed them. He
had agents who helped many Armenians to escape from
Karlik, personally making a trip there to save Mrs.

Megerdichian's brother.4

The refugees came all day from morning to evening.
Mrs. Eskijian ministered to their physical needs. Rev.
Eskijian tried to find shelter, clothes and food, and
maintained contact with those in hiding. By Rev. E.
Elmajian: “While in their home, Rev. and Mrs. Eskijian
did for me all that one's own parents would do. In
addition to all of their home duties and care of her
two little children, Emmanuel and Luther, Mrs. Eskijian
left none of my needs unattended. I cannot forget the
sacrificial service I received from her. She also
served with unexcelled devotion to the daily increasing
number of Armenian refugees who came to her for needed
help. I cannot fully describe the pitiful condition of
the refugees who used to come all day, form early
morning to late evening for urgent help which overtaxed
Mrs. Eskijian beyond the limit of her physical
endurance....What I witnessed during the period of
three months I stayed in Rev. Eskijian's home is too
heartbreaking to describe. He had to do something with
the children who had lost their parents. He had to
listen to the pathetic stories of women, how their
husbands were tortured and murdered before their eyes,
how they were forced by Turkish gendarmes to walk many
miles day after day, barefooted, without sufficient
food and clothing, and without being allowed to drink
water when water was available; how so many young girls
among them were molested and others taken into Turkish

“4 Yestinony oF Rabel Megedchian. Her hstand Dr, Samuel Megerdichan of Kesh, was a lsat of Rey. sian in Cena Turkey College
