Content harems. His sympathetic heart used to melt by
listening to numerous such heart crushing experiences
which were too hard on his nerves. He could not rest
without providing some sort of temporary physical rest
and spiritual comfort for their bleeding heart with a
message from the scriptures to place their trust in

God."5

He opened an orphanage for the children, roaming
through the streets of the city, and taking these young
ones to be saved. When one young man complained that
Rev. Eskijian had not saved his parents, he replied
that the young must be saved so that the nation would
not perish.

John Minassian, his young assistant, estimated that
thousands of Armenians were saved from death by his
efforts, and the efforts of those who joined him in
this endeavor.6 Some called him the "white angel" and
the people he ministered to, loved him as their own
fathers and mothers, and grieved just as deeply when he
died.

The kind of man he was: Rev. Eskijian's acts were
only a reflection of his deeply committed faith in the
Lord Jesus Christ. His final words to his wife were:
"I am thankful. Praise His name forever. It does not
matter--whether I live or die. There is no death for
me. Love to all."7 Hundreds attended his funeral, a
nation mourned, and his memory lives on.”

Rev. Eskijian had not only saved Protestants, but
whoever came to him Gregorian or Catholic. He helped
them all and he never forced anyone to become a
Protestant in order to give help. He never held back
any money when it came to save somebody's life. In his
weak physical condition, he carried a heart of a lion.
He never put his own life first. He was not afraid of
dying. He spent time with the sick, carrying them,
helping them, until he finally got the same typhus that
