A PAGE ABOUT REV. H, ESKIJIAN'S LIFE
During the lest quarter of 1913, Rev. H.Hskijien was invited to
take charge of the ministry of the Armenian Gong; Church of Aleppo City.
The brave and the gallant preacher's self-devoted activity during
the tree consecutive years, obliges us, the members of the congragation to
express our exuberant and sincere gratitude to him,
It 1s very difficult to describe one by one the Rev. Eskijian's
practical activities and the essential points. He had ceated such a fecund
and meriterious circle for the Arm, /Comgragational Church of Aleppo City,
that , we all must bow our heads in front of his inforgetable memories.
Cynmanncl
Rev. Eskijian had such a distinct qualifications and uncommon tal-
lant that, he had gained the sincere sympathy of the whole community. He
was such a unique preacher and a" good shepherd " for his flock. The circun-
stancial evidences showed that, he was a strong and able organizer of the
spiritual life of the church,
He loved very much the pulpit and his people. His sermons were very
simple and transparent like his very life; alife that was the reflection of
his Lord Jesus Christ. In a short time, he brought back all those who had
gone away from the church, because there wasn't any activity in spiritual
life, and gathered them ail around him,
He reorganized the "Christian Youth Society" in no time, which was
resolved for years. Further more, he gave new push to the Sunday Schools and
Social Meetings. So, after a few months, there was a distinct prosperity and
the whole congragation gathered around their preacher. They loved him very
much and he loved them in turn, His only goal was the church and its pros-
perity and flourishing.
Anew the youth gathered around their beloved sociaty and had their
own building, where they were having regular night schools and different ac-
tivities, Headed by their dear leader, they started to fight against the mo-
rely corrupted Aleppo youth and broupht them back to the newly started
"spiritual Pen" so to speak. Yes, in a short time , the Aleppo Arm. Con. Ch-
urch was living its GOLDEN AGE.’ But alas | that, this New Golden Age! dia
not last long. The World War First brought this flourished period to an end.
Barely the war was started, our dear Badvely fell sick... Yet, before
his total recovery, he started a new holy work. Now he devoted himself to
help the constently in pouring Armenian refugees.

Meantime the'C.Y.S.building was confiscatedjthe turkish government
and most of the youth were recruited. So, there was no more spiritual gathe-
ring because of the scattered flock and the terrified people were waiting
for the end of this unexpected drama.
Now the most importent work was the relief-work among the deported
refugees. There was no organized subsidiary comiity. On the other hand, the
fear of the turkish government, no one would dare to take such an important
responsiblity. However, when hundreds of poor deported (armenians were dying
of hunger and thirst in the streets of the Aleppo City, there came a man, a
x t perticular man’ was
aliant to take charge of that much needed work. That pertioule® oan vas
