WE CALL YOUTODUTY fo tein Sm, f
SE CALL YOU TO pur ote ay Deer,
Why This Book is Important to You 14073
This volume contains the secret orders of the Turkish government for the extermi-
nation of the Armenians beginning 1915. We have added a collection of photographs portraying
the shocking scenes of the Armenocide by the Turks at the end. We have also added the preface:
Lessons from the Turkish Armenocide. It is a commentary on the events which have taken place
during the last forty-five years. One of these developments which we must be alarmed by is the
anti-Armenian propaganda by the Turks: their denials of the mass murders of the Armenians,
their distortion of the historical facts, their spread of misinformation, about themselves and us
Armenians, must be of serious concern to every self-respecting Armenian, as well as any
human being.
ORIGIN OF THIS BOOK AND THE PURPOSE OF ITS REPRINTING
‘This book, first published in England in 1920, is almost unobtainable. We were
very glad to locate one copy of it in the Boston Public Library and one in the Gulbenkian Library
of the Armenian Monastery in Jerusalem and had it reprinted in order to distribute to people in
all walks of life - senators, congressmen, governors, clergymen, libraries, et cetera. It is our
purpose and duty to make known the facts about the diabolic plans of the Turks to exterminate an
enlightened and creative people because of their determination to live as free men, and to help to
refute the false Turkish propaganda by the Memoirs of a Turk who was an official of the Deporta-
tion Committee in Aleppo.
OUR FUTURE PLANS
We plan to publish a series of documentary volumes on this question. One volume is
not enough. There is a large amount of scattered material which must be gathered and compiled
in several volumes. We also intend to study and publish volumes on every phase of Armenian
culture and history as an integrated source of information,
In order to realize the above plan, we intend: (1) to bring together a select group of
Armenian and foreign scholars, (2) to create a publication fund of at least two million dollars,
and (3) to create a center with needed personnel and adequate facilities for research and
publications,
Every Armenian has to be a partner in this grand project as an expression of his pride
in his rich heritage, ‘This heritage has to become a part of world culture. The creative works of
the Armenian scholars throughout the world must be made known to the world. It is only through
the realization of such a plan that we can attain higher standards of accomplishment.
