Description
Photograph of an aerial view of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum looking north from Olympic Park between Vermont Avenue and Hoover Street, February 12, 1932. Vermont runs vertically at left, while Hoover parallels it at right. The Coliseum can be seen in the foreground at left and is a large ovular stadium. The Exposition Park Rose Garden is visible at center, and the campus of the University of Southern California can be seen at right. The domed Shrine Auditorium is at right as well. Hundreds of smaller buildings are visible around these landmarks. Mountains can be seen in the distance.

Title
Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
