Description
Photograph of the dirt road leading to the top of the cliffs at Palisades Park in Santa Monica, ca.1910. The dirt road is at center and heads away from the viewer along the edge of the cliff at left and down to the Pacific Coast Highway at right. A wooden fence made from tree branches serves as a guard rail along the edge of the road. The road is bordered by a grove of palm trees at left. An early model automobile is making its way down the road at center. The ocean is in the distance at right, and two small piers are visible as they jut out into the gently breaking surf.
