Description
Photograph of Figueroa Street showing the Foy House on the corner, December 1919. The Foy residence, a two-story building with a bay window and ornate moldings, is shown at center amidst a group of tall trees. Signs in the front yard read "5000 Oregon Xmas Trees Here Dec. 15" and "This Property For Sale [...] Lease Remingto[...]". A picket fence separates the yard from the surrounding land. Paved streets fill the foreground of the image, with automobile traffic and streetcar tracks visible.; In the first quarter of the 20th century, the Foy House was moved from the corner of 7th Street and Figueroa Street to 631 S. Witmer Street. However, it appears that there are varying accounts as to the date the house was moved. Different sources indicate that the house was moved in 1906, 1918 or in 1920.
