Description

Photograph of exterior view of an unknown library, [s.d.]. In the background at center, a small, rectangular building with a tile roof is visible. The building appears to be only one-story and divided into two sections. The other section can be seen to the right. On the building at left, a single entrance flanked by two lanterns can be seen on the leftmost wall. Above the entryway, a decorative design can be seen. At least eight windows are visible along the top of the structure, and a chimney can be seen at center. In the foreground, a large patch of lawn and infant trees can be seen.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
