As the current re q ired .by e lamp un- der test wast a .only load on the m&c ine, fairly constant voltage .was secured. A vo t eter, an am ater, an a r eostat were placed .in this c·rcuit. One operator watc ed is volt- mete r and b ea.ns o the rheostat ~pt the vo e, 1m ressed on the la p und r .test, constan.t. A rotatin lamp hol er was use .to spin the .carbon la s and .give . the ea.n candle-· ower in al irections. This . holder was driven by an alternatin current fa.n mo or .
