Description
Photograph of Broadway looking north from Fourth Street, ca.1904-1905. Horse-drawn carriages are parked along the curbs and share the street with an electric streetcar (in the distance) and a few automobiles. Most of the buildings are 4-stories or taller. Businesses occupy the street level, residential and commercial tenants and occupy upper floors. Pedestrians walk along the sidewalks and across the street. A tall pile of construction debris litters the sidewalk at left.; Legible signs include: ..."Fourth", ..."Cummings"..., "Sanborn, Vail & Co.", ..."real estate", "Dr. W[...], dentist", ..."Bros. [...]hirts", "Homer Laughlin B'ld'g, absolutely fireproof", "Chamber of Commerce", "Brock & Teagan's, watch & jewelry repairer", "Shrader's Shoe Store", "Homoeopath[...] Pharmac"..., "404".
