Photograph of exterior view of the DeLuxe Laundry Company building, 1900. In the extreme foreground at left, a large tree can be seen obscuring the view at left. Behind the tree at the top of the image, several power lines are visible. In the background at center, two paved streets can be seen meeting at an intersection. At the corner of the intersection, a large rectangular building can be seen. A utility pole and road sign can also be seen at the corner. To the far left, a man pulling a hose is visible.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
