Photograph of an exterior view of entrance to the Garrett Corporation offices on Sepulveda Boulevard, ca.1900. At center, a two-story Art Deco-style building is pictured, its entrance to the right of center, inset from the overhanging second story. At left, a chain-link fence is penetrated by the sidewalk and the blacktop that extends in from the foreground. Behind the fence, two tall palm trees can be seen.; "The corporation is composed of nine divisions and two subsidiaries. Its varied activities include manufacture of accessories, components and component systems for aircraft and missiles; manufacture of inflatable survival equipment; complete service facility for private and business aircraft; manufacture of turbocharging systems for diesel engines, and of specialized industrial products; industrial tool distributing outlets." -- unknown author.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
