Description
Photograph of North American Aviation Company building, ca.1960. In the foreground at left, a group of three palm trees are visible. In the background at center, the large North American Aviation building can be seen. A large, covered awning held with slanted supports extends over the front entryway. Along the top of the building, the company logo can be seen at left, while the company name is visible to the right. The company logo consists of a large bird viewed from the side, with its wing pointing down, over a large triangle. In the corners of the triangle, the letters "N, A, A" can be seen. Additional palm trees and other plants can be seen around the front of the structure. Two automobiles can be seen to the right of the entryway. At left, a large flagpole holding the American flag is visible.

Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
