Description
Photograph of a view of Broadway, looking north from the 600 block toward 6th Street, ca.1924. Streets are crowded with cars. The sidewalks are filled with pedestrian traffic. A building on the right has scaffolding (?) out to the street. In the extreme foreground, at right, a part of the marquee on the Orpheum/Palace Theatre can be seen (located at 630 South Broadway). In the middle, at left, the "Grauman's" vertical is visible (553 South Broadway); next to it, the Swelldom building can be seen at the north-east corner of 6th Street and Broadway (as of February 2019, both building are still extant). Legible signs include: "Victrolas", "Platt" "Grauman's".
