Pleasure to talk about Henryk Wars, especially with my friend, Mrs. Elzbieta Wars present.

Nine past Eight and someone’s praying
Playing? Reading? What’s my fate?
Oh, I know, tonight’s my date!
One PM, then Three and Five
My day drags and drags, oh why!
But one thing, just one
I know quite well:
I will see her tonight at nine
Since I miss her, miss her so
I’ll get an advance from my boss
And a flower bouquet I’ll toss.
Then the cinema, bistro and walk
On a moonlit and starry night
We’ll be so happy, look smart
Until midnight makes us part.
I’ll ask for another date at nine
Nine o’clock, like today, will be fine.
Time passes ever so slowly
Half past Two, 3PM only,
Tedious hours, all until nine
Magic, my hope is sublime:
Advance the clocks and allow
To be Nine o’clock now!

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. What about music? Wars’ music resonates to
this day in millions of hearts. Who was this remarkable composer who spoke directly to so many
generations of Poles and others in his audiences worldwide?
