Description
Photograph of the royal Samoan council with a large group of people in a Samoan village, ca.1900. The council consists of about nine men who wear suits and sit on mats at center. They sit in the near part of a circle which consists of almost fifty villagers wearing small cloths over their waists. A fifteen-piece brass band plays next to a straw hut in the background. The jungle presses in behind them.
