Description
Photograph of the east entrance of Mission San Gabriel with El Camino Real bell, ca.1908. A double wooden door in an arched entry is situated below an inset in the adobe(?) wall above in which there is no sculpture. Two tall structural buttresses flank the entry. The bell hangs from a question mark shaped metal post with a sign reading "El Camino Real. Los Angeles, 10 miles; San Fernando Mission, 33m.; Whittier, 12m.; San Juan Capistrano Mission, 58m." The post is situated in the gutter next to the low curb of the street. The branches of a tree are visible at left.
