Description
Photograph of Monterey Harbor, California, as viewed from the Presidio, ca.1887-1890. The pier sticks out into the bay and a small building is constructed on its far end at left. A group of people and a horse are visible on the pier. Two other piers stick out from the coast in the background. A small rowboat is in the water near the pier. Railroad tracks follow the curve of the coastline as it approaches Monterey at right. A man is walking along the tracks. A wooden post and rail fence runs along the edge of the Presidio property in the foreground. Groves of trees and a mountain range are visible in the distance beyond the small town.
